Details

Once Upon a Time in Memphis is an interactive, inclusive, family-centered literacy and
empowerment event designed to transform children into storytellers for a day. Through guided
workshops, motivational talks, and book creation, kids will experience the joy of knowing their voices
matter and walk away with the confidence that comes from learning the art of storytelling. Children will
also be encouraged to explore multiple forms of storytelling including poetry, singing, filmmaking,
animation, and spoken word. Every great story begins with words, and every voice has the power to
inspire. The event highlights inclusivity, with a significant number of neurodivergent participants.
Attendees will benefit from sensory-safe spaces, adaptive resources, and inspiring speakers who are
advocates for accessibility and expression. Hosted at the historic Cossitt Library in Downtown
Memphis, the event will serve up to 200 children and teens ages 6–16, drawing families, educators,
authors, musicians, athletes, and community leaders.
