Enamel artist honored in new Metal Museum exhibit
The work of late artist and educator Harold Bill Helwig is now on display at the Metal Museum in downtown Memphis.
A self-taught enamelist, Helwig is being recognized for his decades of exploring, refining and mastering of a variety of enameling techniques.
In enameling, glass and pigment are applied to metals such as copper, gold, silver or steel and then fused to the metal by firing temperatures at high temperatures.
