Indie Memphis hires local nonprofit leader as new executive director
Memphis Business Journal.
After a five-month search for an executive director, the nonprofit — focused on facilitating the creation of and celebration of independent films — hired Knox Shelton as its executive director. Shelton most-recently served as the executive director of Literacy Mid-South.
"I am honored and thrilled with the opportunity to lead Indie Memphis,” Shelton said in a press release. “The organization has made tremendous strides over the past several years and has an incredibly optimistic future. I look forward to combining years of working alongside the Memphis community with my passion for film as we continue to anchor Memphis as a thriving artistic environment for film and production."
The release goes on to state that the board picked Shelton for his “love of storytelling, strategic leadership, and deep commitment to our wonderfully diverse community of film lovers and filmmakers.”
