MLGW looks to bring solar, battery storage onto the grid
Memphis Light, Gas and Water could generate electricity for the first time in decades.
The City of Memphis-owned utility plans to issue a request-for-proposals (RFP) for 100 megawatts of solar storage and about 80 megawatts of battery storage. The utility hopes to have the projects operational by 2026.
The city-owned utility has long planned to have its own solar farm and battery storage, seeing the investments as crucial in an era of extreme weather and growing energy demand.
