The National Civil Rights Museum presents the 34th Freedom Award to recognize exceptional contributions to civil and human rights. The Museum’s signature event, the Freedom Award, pays tribute to individuals who have shown unwavering commitment to advancing truth, equity, and justice. The esteemed 2025 Freedom Award honorees are MARC H. MORIAL, President and CEO of the National Urban League; VELMA LOIS JONES, lifelong Memphian, trailblazing educator, civil rights leader, and community advocate; and MARK SUZMAN, CEO of the Gates Foundation.

This year’s host is actor Larenz Tate, and the event will feature an exceptional performance by Wendy Moten and the Freedom Award House Band. The event begins with the all-inclusive Pre-Show Gala and Red Carpet event in front of the adjacent Halloran Center with music, hors d'oeuvres, and open bar.
