7th Annual Walkin In Memphis Finale Celebration for World Down Syndrome Day

Walkin’ in Memphis, an awareness walk for Down syndrome, will kick off its 7th annual fundraiser event on March 21st, to raise $21,000, while Josh Greer walks 21 miles across Memphis. The number 21 represents the extra 21st chromosome that is found in persons with Down syndrome. The walk starts at the Memphis/Arkansas Bridge and will end at Beale Street Landing on Riverside Drive, with a celebration starting at 6 pm. Cornhole, games for kids and adults alike, cash/card bar, silent auction, and food trucks for all.
The celebration is free and open to the public; food items are available for purchase; and you can view the lighting of the Memphis (Hernando/Desoto) Bridge in blue and yellow (the colors of Down syndrome).

All proceeds benefit our overall goal of $21,000. Prizes awarded to teams meeting certain categories.
The walk, inspired by Josh, dad of Marley who is his daughter with Down syndrome, was created to bring acceptance and awareness to the community about the genetic disorder and the incredible abilities and worth of every person with Down syndrome. Each year, on March 21, designated as World Down Syndrome Day, Josh walks for 12-14 hours across the Memphis area, trekking his 21 miles and formally stopping at 21 well-known Memphis attractions to take a snapshot with supporters. The goal each year is to raise $21,000 with 100% of proceeds going to the Down Syndrome Association of Memphis & the Mid-South (DSAM) so that they may continue to enrich and expand programs in the Mid-South community for individuals and families they serve.
