Pull up a chair and take your palate on an adventure as you sample coffee brews from across the African diaspora. At the Barista Exchange Fellows' bar takeover, you'll discover more than just coffee; you'll uncover stories woven into every cup. During this event - part of its multi-city tour across the Southeast - engage with the baristas at Talk Shop as they share insights into the unique rituals and techniques that define their nation's coffee scene. Sip and savor the flavors while learning how altitude, climate, and soil infuse each coffee fruit with distinct flavors that are as diverse as the landscapes they come from, from Ethiopia and Rwanda to Kenya and Congo. The event is presented by Cxffeeblack, a community-oriented, multi-disciplinary, education-based coffee company. Founded in 2019, by husband and wife team, Bartholomew Jones and Renata Henderson, this social enterprise is on a mission to return coffee to its African roots and in the process, create an equitable Black future.

The Barista Exchange finalists represent pivotal voices poised to forge new paths in the coffee industry, rooted in honoring African heritage. Fellows joining the tour are Beamlak Melesse Bekele (Ethiopia), 2nd Place in Ethiopian Barista Championship; Elise Dushimimana (Rwanda), Senior Barista and Quality Assurance at Kivu Noir Cafe; Smayah Uwajeneza (Rwanda), the Founder of Elevate Through Coffee and Specialty Coffee Association certified coffee professional, Leadership Equity and Diversity (LEAD) scholar, and Q-grader; and Mario Alberto (Afro-Colombian), Lead Farmer and Co-Founder at Solo Cafe.
