“Remembering MLK: The Man. The Movement. The Moment.” is the annual remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel, the site where he was assassinated.
This year marks the 56th anniversary of his death and features a keynote speaker, special performances, fraternal tributes, and the changing of the balcony wreath with a moment of silence at 6:01 pm Central when Dr. King was slain. This year’s commemoration includes performances by winners of the “I AM The Legacy” high school poetry/spoken word competition. A musical prelude begins at 4:00 pm Central.
