Join the Southern Foodways Alliance in Memphis, Tennessee, October 10–11, 2026, for its annual Fall Symposium, Memphis Movements. Over two days, the symposium will explore the food, people, places, and movements that have shaped Memphis across generations—from the Mississippi River and Interstate 40 to Stax Records, Beale Street, the People’s Grocery, and the I AM A MAN campaign.
Through engaging conversations, panel discussions, film screenings, and memorable meals, attendees will trace the ways movement has influenced Memphis’s foodways and culture. Together, these experiences will offer a deeper look at how food has both reflected and fueled the city’s enduring spirit, resilience, and sense of place.
