'Rocky Horror' star Barry Bostwick coming to Memphis for cult film's 50th anniversary
On Oct. 3, 80-year-old actor Barry Bostwick will arrive at the Orpheum in Downtown Memphis for a special anniversary presentation of the 50-year-old cult classic known as "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."
For Bostwick, "Rocky Horror" and Memphis, it's been a surprising journey, not unlike the "Time Warp" celebrated in the movie's signature dance number, when "madness takes its toll."
The ultimate (only?) audience-participation rock 'n' roll science-fiction musical comedy about a "sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania," "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" — the movie adaptation of a 1973 stage production — debuted on Aug. 14, 1975, in London.
