Action plan for moving city center forward announced during DMC’s ‘State of Downtown Memphis’ event
On Wednesday, a 90-minute conversation about the future of Downtown Memphis developed inside the Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education.
This year, during the 2025 “State of Downtown Memphis” event, the Downtown Memphis Commission announced it is launching a “Downtown Action Plan” to move the city center forward with clarity and purpose.
The DMC wants downtown to be attractive, clean, to reduce blight, to grow the tax base, and to expand housing—as a few of its goals throughout this action plan.
This three-year action plan includes three main parts: Making Main Street the heartbeat of Memphis, investing in large sites and projects, and creating a more walkable downtown.
