‘Adult playground’ coming to Downtown
Business owner TJ Smith will open a 1,400-square-foot event space and lounge on the ground floor of the Claridge House at 109 N. Main St. in June.
Playground Memphis will offer adults a space to play giant Jenga, compete in Uno tournaments and run away from ghosts in a game of Pac-Man.
“It’s so people can have a place to come hang out, eat, spend time and just do something different for adults,” Smith said. “It’s an adult playground.”
The 1980s-inspired space is underlit with red and blue lights, black and white checkerboard risers, multicolored walls and movie posters from “Harlem Nights” and “Purple Rain.”
Smith said the lounge will also offer food and drinks.
