Could a new grocery store be coming to Downtown near St. Jude? | Mane Street Memphis
The Community Redevelopment Agency is looking to rebuild a 3-acre lot near St. Jude Children's Research Hospital into a mixed-use hub.
On May 30, the Community Redevelopment Agency opened a request-for-proposals (RFP) for its Manassas Market redevelopment project. The site, is located at the intersection of North Parkway and Danny Thomas Boulevard. The properties included are 544 Jackson Ave., 0 Danny Thomas Blvd., 645 Jackson Ave. (For context, the property is the island parcel across from Cozy Corner BBQ restaurant and the under-construction Chick-fil-A.)
The property includes a vacant 26,000-square-foot building, which was formerly a grocery store. The Community Redevelopment Agency is seeking any future proposals for redevelopment of the property into a retail node, specifically a grocery store, with a retail component. The agency acquired the property in 2019.
The RFP will be open until Aug. 22.
