Downtown Memphis' AutoZone Park set for $55 million renovation, city documents show

Downtown Memphis' AutoZone Park has a hefty renovation plan in place, to the tune of $55 million.

In July, the City of Memphis and Florida-based real estate development firm Vieste LLC agreed to a multi-phased renovation of AutoZone Park. The estimated total capital cost of the renovation is $55 million, according to city documents.

Vieste is overseeing the renovation as a project manager, according to the documents. The project is aimed at three phases, including bringing AutoZone Park up to Major League Baseball standards with its new player development league regulations. According to the July documents, the majority of the player development league improvements have been made, save for a "batting tunnel project."

The second and third phases are focused on modernizing AutoZone Park and securing the long-term future for the Memphis Redbirds, the St. Louis Cardinals' Triple-A affiliate.

"The Redbirds appreciate the ongoing dialogue with the City regarding the critical upgrades to AutoZone Park. We remain committed to working collaboratively to ensure the Redbirds’ long-term future in Memphis by returning AutoZone Park to a “best in class” baseball stadium and preserving it as an important community asset for Memphians," Memphis Redbirds representatives said in a statement.
