Let the Good Times Roll at Downtown Memphis’s New Restaurant, Hard Times Deli

Hard Times Deli, located at 654 Marshall Ave. in Memphis’s Edge District, aims to draw in customers with its upscale sandwich shop appeal.

The restaurant’s unique name was inspired by the experiences of its owners—Harrison Downing, Cole Jeanes, and Schuyler O’Brien—who have faced their share of hard times, including running restaurants for others. With the help of a $25,000 loan from the Economic Development Growth Engine (EDGE) for Memphis and Shelby County, the team has transformed an old building into something fresh and inviting.

Hard Times Deli will specialize in sandwiches, soups, salads, and soft-serve ice cream. Guests can enjoy these bites via delivery, takeout, or dine-in.
