Exclusive: Substantial economic impact projected for Downtown site

An economic impact in the hundreds of millions of dollars is projected from the construction alone for the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art's move Downtown.

The 122,000-square-foot museum at the corner of Union Avenue and Front Street broke ground in July 2023.

The museum's new home, to be renamed the Memphis Art Museum, is expected to open in 2026.

Once fully operational, the museum is expected to have an economic impact of at least $26 million a year — rising to as much as $94 million annually in more aggressive models.
