Making smokeless tobacco is a process: the leaves hang for months until the moisture escapes; then they are smoke-cured for flavor; then they rest; and — finally — they are shredded into chewable fibers.
Perhaps it’s only fitting then that the renovation of the former American Snuff Co. site Downtown has taken some time.
