Former Memphis Grizzlies great Zach Randolph, Connect Music to hold back-to-school block party
Since spending eight years with the franchise, Memphis Grizzlies great Zach Randolph has long called the 901 home, giving back to the city and organization in a number of ways.
Randolph's NLess Entertainment record label, which he co-founded with Marcus "Head" Howell, has partnered with Memphis-based distribution company Connect Music to host the inaugural Connected Community Back to School Block Party from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 2.
The event, which will be hosted by Connect Music at their downtown location at 158 Vance Ave., will feature celebrity guests, live music, activities for kids and free haircuts and hairstyling. There also will be free backpacks and school supplies for more than 1,000 kids grades K-12.
"Staying in the community, giving back to the people keeps me grounded," Randolph told The Commercial Appeal. "There were times when I was younger and I know I needed a Z-Bo during back-to-school season and holiday seasons."
