Former Peanut Shoppe space and Downtown warehouse will become ‘something to celebrate’

The former Peanut Shoppe building and a vacant Downtown warehouse will be renovated after the Downtown Memphis Commission’s Design Review Board on Wednesday, Dec. 3, approved exterior designs for the two properties.

Both buildings required DRB design approvals after receiving $140,000 in incentives from the DMC’s Center City Development Corp.

Rahim Sivji expects to turn the vacant 11,800-square-foot warehouse at 321 S. Main St. into a commercial mixed-use building with spaces for lease.

Sivji plans to divide the building interior into four commercial spaces for lease along Main Street, with one 3,300-square-foot space for a liquor store and two spaces totaling 2,700 square feet for possible retail and restaurants. The fourth space will be used for storage.
