Grind City Brewing breaks ground on outdoor music venue in Uptown
Work on Grind City Brewing Co.'s new outdoor music venue is set to get underway.
The Uptown brewery recently filed for a construction permit from the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development to begin work on the 3,500-seat outdoor concert venue. The permit, valued at $984,000, is to build a 5,664-square-foot slab for the eventual stage, as well as some associated infrastructure improvements at the brewery at 76 Waterworks Ave.
Two Memphis-based firms, UrbanArch Associates and Zellner Construction Services, are handling the venue's design and general contracting work, respectively.
The Grind City Amp venue was announced in January. Grind City plans to host eight to 12 concerts and comedy shows each year at the facility, which would accommodate 4,500 and have 3,500 seats. Barbian Entertainment and Grind City expect the venue to open in the spring of 2026.
