Memphis Art Museum unveils new look at planned downtown location

With less than a year to go before its planned open date downtown, the Memphis Art Museum has unveiled new renderings of what the finished building will look like.

The new 123,500-square-foot building on Front Street will feature 50% more gallery space and six times more art-filled free and public spaces than its current location at Overton Park.

The museum will include a 10,000-square-foot community courtyard, a 50,000-square-foot rooftop β€œart park in the sky,” an outdoor amphitheater with a view of the Mississippi River, and an expansive pedestrian plaza that will be shared by the museum and Cossitt Library.
