Orpheum Theatre Group unveils revitalization plan for Downtown campus

A $1.75 million project is set to revitalize the Orpheum Theatre Group campus Downtown.

The Orpheum Theatre Group — which includes the Orpheum Theatre and the Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education — sits on the corner of Main and Beale Streets.

The nearly 100-year-old Orpheum has a large marquee that lights up the street corner every night.

Just next door is the Halloran Center, which opened in 2015. A strikingly different building from the Orpheum, its glass exterior is shiny, reflective, and modern.

“We'd hear from people, ‘Oh, I didn't know the Halloran Centre was part of the Orpheum. I didn’t know the Halloran Centre was even an entertainment and education building,'” Orpheum president and CEO Brett Batterson said.
