St. Jude to demolish three Pinch District buildings
ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, will demolish more than 12,000 square feet of buildings in the Pinch District.
Matt Chandler with Memphis-based Chandler Demolition Co. filed three permits to demolish the 2,600-square-foot building at 381 N. Main St., the 7,700-square-foot building at 393 N. Main St. and the 1,800-square-foot accessory building at 383 N. Main St.
“We continue our work to stabilize the 23 Pinch District properties we purchased last August,” said Michelle Mohr, an ALSAC spokesperson. “Many of these are in challenging conditions and in some cases require the demolition of buildings that have deteriorated beyond repair.”
ALSAC announced Aug. 28, 2024, the acquisition of 23 parcels in the Pinch District as part of St. Jude’s campus expansion.
Mohr said the nonprofit is still deciding the best use for the properties.
