What's that going in at former Family Dollar building in Downtown Memphis?
The vacant Family Dollar storefront on South Main in Downtown Memphis will have a new look soon.
The property, which dates back to 1872, will be renovated into an office and retail space. Developer Nat Newburger purchased the building in October 2005 for $325,000, according to the Shelby County Register of Deeds.
In November 2022, the Center City Revenue Finance Corp., an affiliate board of the Downtown Memphis Commission (DMC), approved a 10-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) for the project. In September 2024, the affiliate DMC board approved a modification to that PILOT.
